The presentation describes a vertically stacked dual band antenna servicing a low frequency band at 2.45GHz and a high frequency band at 20GHz. The low frequency antenna is a single micro strip patch while the high frequency antenna is a multi-patch micro strip array with beam forming/direction of arrival capability. The beam forming/direction of arrival functionality is achieved by voltage controlled phase shifters. Each micro strip patch is connected to a DC voltage controlled phase shifter. Each phase shifter is digitally controlled through a high speed digital to analog converter. The antenna will be used in 4G/5G communication systems.
